Meltaway Cookie Treats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract.
02 - 1 cup softened butter.
03 - 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
04 - 1 1/4 cups plain flour.
05 - 1/2 cup corn starch.
06 - 2 tablespoons room-temperature butter for frosting.
07 - 2 tablespoons 2% milk.
08 - 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract for the frosting.
09 - Optional red food dye.
10 - 1/2 cup crushed candy canes.
11 - 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar for the frosting.

# Instructions:

01 - Mix the butter and sugar together until it looks fluffy, about 3 or 4 minutes. Add the peppermint flavoring and keep mixing.
02 - In a separate bowl, stir the flour and cornstarch together. Slowly mix this dry mixture into the butter-sugar blend.
03 - Cover the dough and pop it in the fridge for half an hour until it firms up.
04 - Set your oven to 350°F and let it heat up.
05 - Roll the dough into little 1-inch balls. Place them on your baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9-11 minutes, just until the bottoms are light golden.
06 - Move the cookies to a cooling rack and let them cool all the way.
07 - Blend the butter, milk, peppermint flavoring, and food coloring. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until the frosting is smooth.
08 - Spread the frosting on the cooled cookies and sprinkle the crushed candy over the top.

# Notes:

01 - Store in something airtight to keep fresh.
02 - Cornstarch makes these cookies super soft.
03 - You can color your frosting pink if you want.
