In a pot, combine 3 cups of milk with 1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) of salt. Bring it to a boil. Add oats, flaxseeds, walnuts, maple syrup, and vanilla next, whisking it all in. Lower the heat, then let it simmer. Keep whisking for about 6-7 minutes until you reach the texture you like.

In a large microwave-safe bowl (12-cup / 3 L capacity), stir together 3 cups of milk and 1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) of salt. Heat on high power for 3 minutes or until it starts to boil. Mix in the oats, flaxseeds, walnuts, maple syrup, and vanilla. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, leaving one side open. Microwave for 6 minutes on high power, stirring every so often, until it thickens up the way you prefer.
