Valentine Sugar Cookie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 2 large eggs
02 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
03 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
04 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
05 - 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles mixed into dough
06 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
07 - 1 cup granulated white sugar
08 - 1/2 cup butter, softened at room temp

→ Decoration

09 - 1/4 cup Valentine sprinkles for decorating
10 - 1 tablespoon red M&Ms or candy hearts
11 - 1 container of vanilla frosting (like Duncan Hines)

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square non-stick baking pan with parchment paper so it's easy to lift out later.
02 - Grab a big bowl or use a stand mixer. Start by mixing all the dry ingredients together. Add the eggs, soft butter, and vanilla, then blend it until it forms a smooth dough. Gently stir in the Valentine sprinkles until they're spread out evenly.
03 - Press the dough into the lined pan, making sure it covers the entire bottom evenly, and get it into the edges. Bake for 15-20 minutes. When a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, it's ready. Cool it down completely before moving on to decorations.
04 - Once cooled, spread a thick layer of frosting on top with a butter knife or spoon. Sprinkle with Valentine sprinkles, then add the M&Ms or candy hearts. Cut into squares (about 2 inches wide) and enjoy.

# Notes:

01 - Short on time? Use store-bought sugar cookie dough for the base.
02 - Letting the dough chill for about 10-15 minutes will help it bake more evenly.
03 - You can get creative with toppings! Try adding mini chocolates or shaped candies.
04 - Make sure the bars are fully cooled before frosting so the icing doesn't melt.
