Sweet Sugar Treat (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 2 sheets of pie crust

→ Filling

02 - 1 pinch of salt
03 - 30 ml cornstarch
04 - 210 g brown sugar
05 - 40 g all-purpose unbleached flour
06 - 125 ml maple syrup
07 - 375 ml heavy whipping cream
08 - Milk for brushing

# Instructions:

01 - Pour the cream and maple syrup into a saucepan and whisk in the brown sugar, cornstarch, flour, and salt while it’s off the heat. Keep stirring and bring it to a boil. Once it's bubbling, take it off the heat and let it cool.
02 - Preheat the oven to 200 °C and move the rack to the lower part. Roll one pie crust into a dish that’s 23 cm wide and pour the sugar filling in evenly.
03 - Cut the other crust into strips about 2.5 cm wide. Brush milk over the strips and lay them on top of the pie filling. Weave or crisscross the strips so they create a grid. Press the edges with a fork or your fingers and trim off any extra dough.
04 - Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes until the crust has a golden color and the filling is bubbling. Let it cool slightly before serving, or enjoy it cold.

# Notes:

01 - For a neat lattice pattern, carefully cross the dough strips over each other before sealing the edges.
