01 -
Stir the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl. Put it to the side.
02 -
Use a large bowl to beat the sugar and butter until it's creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.
03 -
Slowly pour the bowl with the flour into the one with the butter mix. Stir until smooth and fully blended.
04 -
Split the dough evenly into two. Add orange to one and black to the other, mixing until each is evenly colored. Clean the tools between colors to keep them separate.
05 -
Form each dough into a flat rectangle, wrap it in plastic, and chill for 1-2 hours in the fridge.
06 -
Roll out each dough until it's between ⅛ and ¼ inch thick. Layer one onto the other with orange underneath. Make the edges neat if needed.
07 -
If you want, brush a bit of water over the edges of the dough and press on sprinkles for decoration.
08 -
Roll the layered dough into a log shape, use plastic wrap to cover it, and let it chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
09 -
Turn on the oven to 350°F. Cut the log into slices about ¼-½ inch thick. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving 2 inches between each.
10 -
Bake the slices for 10-12 minutes. They're done when the tops don't look wet anymore.
