# Ingredients:

→ Burger

01 - Salt and pepper, adjust to your liking
02 - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
03 - 1 lb ground beef

→ Caramelized Onions

04 - 1 teaspoon sugar
05 - 2 large onions, sliced thin
06 - 1/2 cup beef stock
07 - 2 tablespoons butter

→ Assembly

08 - 4 hamburger buns
09 - 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
10 - More butter for spreading on buns
11 - 1 clove garlic, finely minced (optional for garlic butter)
12 - 4 slices Gruyère or Swiss cheese

# Instructions:

01 - In a big pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Toss in the onions and sprinkle them with the sugar. Stir now and then while cooking, letting them slowly turn golden and sweet over 20-25 minutes. If they start sticking, splash some beef stock into the pan and scrape it up.
02 - Season the ground beef in a large bowl with Worcestershire sauce, plus some salt and pepper. Mix everything by hand until it's combined, then shape it into 4 equal patties.
03 - Grill or cook the patties on a pan until you get the doneness you want.
04 - If you'd like garlic butter buns, mix some softened butter with garlic, then spread it lightly on the buns. Toast them till they’re crispy and golden.
05 - Start with the bottom bun, add a beef patty, layer on the onions, and place a slice of cheese on top.
06 - Place the stacked burgers under the broiler briefly to melt the cheese into a gooey layer.
07 - Finish with a sprinkle of fresh thyme over the cheese, add the top bun, and dig in while it's hot.
