Combine all the marinade ingredients in a bowl. Put it aside for now.

Cover the chicken breast with plastic wrap on a cutting board. Use a meat mallet to gently pound it so the thickness evens out.

Pour the marinade into a sealable plastic bag. Add the chicken breast, seal the bag, and give it a good mix to coat it fully.

Pop the bag into the fridge and let the chicken soak in the flavors for 30 minutes.

Take the chicken out of the marinade and bake or grill it, depending on your preference.

Set your oven to 400°F. Cover a baking pan with foil, top with a wire rack, and place the chicken on it. Leave it uncovered and roast until a meat thermometer reads 165°F (takes about 25 minutes for chicken ½ inch thick).

Grill the chicken until it hits an internal temperature of 165°F (about 15 minutes for ½-inch thick chicken breast).
