Heat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Spread out the puff pastry, then cut it into rectangular shapes.

Add some diced ham and a layer of cheese onto each rectangle.

Roll the rectangles up and use the beaten egg to seal the edges.

Put the rolls on a tray with parchment paper. Brush the tops with leftover egg and sprinkle a little salt and pepper over them.

Bake in the oven for about 15–20 minutes, or until they're golden and crispy.
