Fresh Cranberry Orange (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure).
02 - 1 teaspoon zest from an orange.
03 - 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed tightly.
04 - 1/4 cup (60ml) orange juice, freshly squeezed.
05 - 3/4 cup (150g) water.
06 - A 12-ounce bag of rinsed cranberries.

# Instructions:

01 - Juice half the orange to get 1/4 cup, making sure to zest it first.
02 - Take out 1/2 cup of cranberries and set them aside for added texture later.
03 - In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, juice, and the rest of the cranberries and bring to a simmer.
04 - Lower the heat and let it cook for 15 minutes. Stir every now and then until cranberries pop and the mixture thickens.
05 - Remove the saucepan from heat, then mix in the vanilla, zest, and the cranberries you set aside. It'll thicken as it cools.

# Notes:

01 - Can stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
02 - You can use either frozen or fresh cranberries.
03 - Store in the freezer for three months without any issue.
04 - Prepare it ahead of time, up to three days early.
