Crispy Lardons Bites (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 200g of good-quality smoked bacon bits
02 - 1 all-butter puff pastry sheet
03 - 150g of grated comté cheese
04 - 2 eggs
05 - 100ml of fresh cream
06 - Freshly ground black pepper
07 - Grated nutmeg

# Instructions:

01 - Warm up the oven to 180°C (around 350°F). Roll the puff pastry out on a slightly floured countertop and cut small circles out with a glass or a cookie-cutter. Cook the bacon bits in a pan over medium heat until they turn crispy and golden.
02 - In a bowl, combine the eggs, fresh cream, grated comté, nutmeg, and black pepper.
03 - Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the pastry circles on it. Spread the cooked bacon evenly on the pastry bases. Spoon a bit of the topping mix onto each one. Pop them into the oven and bake for about 15–20 minutes, until they look golden and cooked through.
04 - Take the bites out of the oven and serve either hot or just slightly warm.

# Notes:

01 - Choose high-quality bacon for better flavor. These are best served warm for a crispy bite.
