Cookie Brownie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
02 - 1 egg, at room temperature.
03 - 24g cocoa powder, dutch process (1/4 cup).
04 - 130g semi-sweet chocolate chunks (3/4 cup).
05 - 113g unsalted butter (8 tablespoons) reserved for cookies.
06 - 2 large eggs.
07 - 50g white granulated sugar (1/4 cup).
08 - 1/2 teaspoon salt.
09 - 100g dark brown sugar (1/2 cup).
10 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
11 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
12 - 80g plain flour (2/3 cup).
13 - 160g all-purpose flour (1 1/3 cup).
14 - 113g unsalted butter (8 tablespoons).
15 - 200g sugar (1 cup).
16 - 180g semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup).

# Instructions:

01 - Melt butter in a pan on medium heat, stirring until golden brown with small speckles. Pour into a bowl, keeping 90g aside.
02 - Set your oven to 350°F/175°C to warm up. Rub butter on an 8-inch square pan and line it with parchment paper.
03 - Combine melted butter and chocolate until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder. Whisk sugar and eggs separately until airy, then mix with chocolate. Gently add flour and salt.
04 - Stir brown butter with sugars. Mix in the egg and vanilla, followed by the dry ingredients and chocolate pieces. Don't overmix.
05 - Start with half the brownie batter, then add 2/3 of the cookie dough in pressed-down pieces. Follow with the rest of the brownie batter and scatter leftover cookie bits. Bake for 40-45 minutes until edges firm.

# Notes:

01 - Center may jiggle a bit when finished.
02 - Let cool completely before cutting and eating.
03 - Highly recommend using an oven thermometer for accuracy.
