Black Velvet Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 1 cup granulated sugar
02 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
04 - 2 tablespoons black cocoa powder
05 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
06 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
07 - 1/2 teaspoon salt

→ Wet Ingredients

08 - 1/4 cup vegetable oil
09 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
10 - 1 cup buttermilk
11 - 1 tablespoon white vinegar
12 - Black food coloring gel or paste
13 - 2 large eggs
14 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F, and grease two 9-inch cake tins.
02 - Whisk butter and sugar until it's creamy. Toss in the oil, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla.
03 - Gradually mix the dry ingredients and buttermilk, and toss in the food coloring.
04 - Split evenly into pans. Pop in the oven for 25-30 minutes and bake until done.
05 - Let pans rest 10 minutes, then move cakes to a rack to cool completely.

# Notes:

01 - For a richer black color, add more food coloring.
02 - Goes great with whipped ganache or cream cheese frosting.
