Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C) to preheat it. Coat an 8×8-inch pan lightly with cooking spray or butter.

Carefully remove the skin from the apple, then slice it into 8-10 wedges. Keep these slices aside for now.

Break apart the crescent dough so that you have individual spots for wrapping.

Dry off the apple slices with a paper towel to make wrapping easier. Roll a slice inside a dough triangle, sealing it as you go, starting from the wider edge. Lay these bundles in the pan.

Put butter in a saucepan and melt it over medium. Mix in your cinnamon and sugar; stir constantly until it looks thick. Take the pan off the heat, then mix in the vanilla.

Drizzle the cinnamon butter sauce over those wraps. Pour the soda on top right after, sharing it evenly.

Place the dish in your oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. You're looking for the dumplings to turn a nice golden color.
